Which smartphones are compatible with wireless recharging?

QI technology is a particular feature which users are looking for in a latest-generation smartphone.

What is it exactly?

It is a wireless recharging system that exploits electromagnetic induction.
This way, electrical currents can be generated without using voltage generators, but simply by placing the charging station in close contact with your device.

The disclosure of this technology began in 2010, through experimentation work on certain electronic devices, but it has only just recently proven efficient for the mobile telephony world. This is why users are now in hot pursuit of the best wireless battery chargers on the market.

But which smartphones are compatible with wireless recharging?

Those which feature built-in QI technology. Thanks to this mechanism, your phone can be recharged:

in a practical and orderly fashion, without any wires or leads;
without the problem linked to your device overheating, as this is avoided by the protection system built into the charging station.

The true advantage, however, also lies in the speedy power supply.
This is thanks to Quick Charge, a system designed to maximise current absorption and increase the charging voltage, taking it up to a maximum of 10 V.

The list of smartphones with built-in QI technology is a long one. Samsung already began to develop its first few models three years ago. Whereas Apple only introduced this novelty with its latest models presented last September: iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the gem, iPhone X. Note that the Cupertino-based manufacturer already used the QI standard to charge the Apple Watch.

Here at Maikii, we’re riding the trend and offering a wireless battery charger in our catalogue, available in two models:

In Pulse the charging base is an ultra-slim and lightweight plastic disc (measuring 10 centimetres in diameter), which can be customised with silk-screen printed, CMYK printed and LED printed logos and graphics. Fitted with a micro USB port, it can be used to charge the following smartphones:

  • Samsung
    • S 6 / 6EDGE / 6active / 7 / 8
    • Note Edge 5 / 6 / 7 / 8
  • iPhone 8/ 8 Plus / X
  • Asus Z97-Deluxe
  • Google Nexus4 / Nexus5 / Nexus6 / Nexus7
  • HTC Droid DNA / HTC 8X One Mini 2

  • Sony Xperia Z4v / Z3V / Z4V
  • YotaPhone 2

The Shuttle model on the other hand, in addition to all the technical characteristics specified above, offers four additional USB ports, to allow simultaneous charging of multiple devices.

Devices which do not support wireless technology can become compatible by linking up their micro USB port to a universal module referred to as the Wireless Receiver in our catalogue.
